Firstly, the folk singer Rogér Fakhr. He released most of his music in the late 1970s in Lebanon, before relocating to California in 1981 at the end of a US tour he played as part of Fairuz band. This show signifies his official return to the top after years in the shadows, before Habibi Funk reissue of Fine Away in 2021 brought him back into the limelight.
Secondly, it’s multi-instrumentalist Charif Megarbane. The first contemporary artist to release new music on Habibi Funk, Charif plays more than a dozen instruments and has released more than 100 albums on his personal Bandcamp. He calls his music, “Lebrary”, a vision of Lebanon and the Mediterranean expressed via the prismatic sonics of library music.
